Scope
This test method specifies the method for measuring the tensile strength at room temperature of some nonmetallic gasket materials. The types of materials include materials containing asbestos and other inorganic fibers (type 1), cork (type 2), cellulose and other organic fibers (type 3), flexible graphite (type 5) described in GB/T 20671.1. This test method does not apply to vulcanized rubber and rubber O-rings, the test method for vulcanized rubber is described in test method ASTM D412, and the test method for rubber O-rings is described in test method ASTM D1414
