Scope
This test method specifies the method for determining the short-term compressibility and rebound rate of gasket materials at room temperature. It is applicable to gasket materials in the form of plates, gaskets formed in place, and gaskets cut from plate in some cases. This method is not suitable for testing the compressibility (commonly referred to as "creep") or rebound rate (the opposite is commonly referred to as "compression set") of materials under long-term pressure, and it does not take into account the non-room temperature conditions. next test. If desired, the data obtained from the test can also be used to calculate the elastic recovery rate (the amount of rebound expressed as a percentage of the thickness after compression) of the sample.
