- This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, markings, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage requirements for disposable insulin syringes. It includes 40 unit insulin syringe (U-40) and 100 unit insulin syringe (U-100). This standard applies to single-use insulin syringes (hereinafter referred to as syringes) that are used for injection into the human body immediately after aspiration of insulin solution. Not suitable for disposable sterile insulin syringes, disposable glass syringes, and pre-filled syringes.
