Scope
This document specifies the method, equipment, sampling and sample preparation, measurement procedures, data processing and inspection report for the measurement of austenite volume fraction and morphology in steel by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) method . This document is applicable to the analysis of medium and low carbon steels and medium and low carbon alloy steels containing austenite with a grain size above 50nm. This document is not applicable to the analysis of austenite whose grain size is less than 50nm, and the austenite grain size less than 50nm will seriously affect the accuracy of quantitative analysis results. NOTE: The lower grain size limit is the smallest observable austenite grain size. The lower grain size limit depends on equipment conditions and operating parameters.
