This part of GB7000 specifies the general requirements for luminaires using electric light sources with a power supply voltage not exceeding 1000 V. The requirements and related tests proposed in this section include: classification, marking, mechanical structure, electrical structure and photobiological safety. Each chapter in this part should be read together with Chapter 0 and other relevant chapters referenced. Each standard of GB7000 Part 2 details the specific requirements for a specific type of luminaire or group of luminaires with a supply voltage not exceeding 1000V. For revision purposes, these sections are published separately, and additional sections are added when required. The expression of luminaire photometric data is proposed by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), so this part does not involve. This standard covers requirements for luminaires with igniters whose nominal impulse voltage peak values do not exceed the values in Table 11.2. The application of these requirements to this practical guide is to give advice to luminaire manufacturers in the design of luminaires, taking into account luminaire characteristics, rather than currently using standardized tests and evaluation controls. This appendix provides advice on material selection, aging of plastic materials over lifetime, the effect of corrosive elements and their proper protection, thermal considerations for optical design, phenomena related to lamp end-of-life, and vibration resistance. This appendix applies to luminaires for indoor and outdoor use, and suggests generally acceptable structures, but is not exhaustive. Therefore, this guideline cannot be considered a requirement, because other solutions may be equally effective, or may even be better in a particular application. GB/T16895.18 gives the classification of external influences. L.2 Plastics in luminaires
