Scope
This standard specifies methods of measurement for the following currents: — dc current flowing through the human body or ac current of sinusoidal or non-sinusoidal waveform; and — current flowing through a protective conductor. The recommended measurement method for touch current is based on the possible effects of current flowing through the human body. In this standard, the measurement of the current flowing through the measurement network (representing the impedance of the human body) refers to the measurement of the touch current. These networks don't necessarily work well for animals. The specification and meaning of specific limits are not within the scope of this standard. IEC 60479-1 provides relevant information on the effects of current passing through the human body. Based on this information, the current limits can be determined. This standard applies to all types of equipment defined in IEC 60536. The measurement methods in this standard are not considered to be used in the following situations; - contact current with a duration of less than 1s; - patient current specified in GB 9706.1; - AC with a frequency lower than 15 Hz; - with a DC component AC, the use of a single network with the superimposed effect of AC and DC as a composite indication is for further study; — currents exceeding those selected for electrical burn limits. This basic safety standard is mainly provided for use by technical committees when formulating standards according to IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51. This standard is not intended for use by manufacturers or certification bodies. Technical committees use the base safety standards when developing standards. If not specifically cited or stipulated in the relevant standards, the requirements of the test methods and test conditions of this basic safety standard will not apply.
