This document specifies the conditions for axial constant-amplitude force-controlled fatigue tests on metallic material specimens (without introducing stress concentrations) at room temperature. When using this document, the purpose of the test is to provide fatigue information, such as the relationship between the applied stress and the number of cycles to failure under different stress ratios, given material conditions (such as hardness and microstructure). This document is applicable to the axial force controlled fatigue test of circular and rectangular cross-section specimens, and the detection of product components and other special shape specimens is not included. Note 1: Since the shape and size of notched specimens are not standardized, this document does not include fatigue tests on notched specimens. However, the fatigue testing procedure described in this document can be applied to fatigue testing of notched specimens. Note 2: This document uses engineering stress, which is defined as the ratio of the axial force to the original cross-sectional area of the specimen at the test temperature.
