Scope
This standard specifies a method for determining the content of sulfur compounds in gas samples using gas chromatography and chemiluminescence detection. This standard is applicable to the determination of volatile sulfur compounds in gas samples such as refinery gas, natural gas, air, biogas, landfill gas, etc. The detection range of this method, measured in pg of sulfur, is 10~1000000, which is equivalent to a sulfur mass concentration range of 0.01 mg/m~1000 mg/m when the injection volume is 1 mL. The detection range of this method can be extended to high concentrations by diluting or selecting a small quantitative loop. This method is not suitable for accurate identification of all sulfur-containing compound forms in the sample. Only sulfur-containing compounds eluting from a specific column under selected chromatographic conditions are characterized. Within the aforementioned range, the detector responds equimolarly to all sulfur elements, so unknown sulfur-containing compounds are measured with the same accuracy as known sulfur-containing compounds. The total sulfur content in the sample can be calculated based on the content of each sulfur-containing compound component.
