Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the moisture permeability and crease moisture permeability of thin sheet materials by the gravimetric (moisture permeability cup) method. This standard applies to thin sheet packaging materials that are flat and impede the transmission of water vapor, such as paper, cardboard, plastic film, composite materials of paper and film or metal foil, rubber or plastic coated fabrics, etc. This method is not applicable to films that have been damaged or shrunk significantly due to exposure to hot wax under the test conditions. This method is not recommended for materials with a moisture permeability of less than 1 g/(m2 ? 24 h) or a material with a thickness greater than 3 mm.
