This International Standard specifies the requirements for electroplated coatings of the intermetallic compound SnNi with a composition of approximately 65% (m/m) tin and 35% (m/m) nickel. It does not apply to: a) threaded parts; b) coatings on sheets, strips or wires in unprocessed form or on objects made from them; c) Covers on coil springs; d) galvanic coating of steels with a tensile strength above 1000 MPa1) (or corresponding hardness), because such steels tend to hydrogen embrittlement (see 8.2).
