This International Standard specifies a method for vertical vibration testing on a package(s) and loading units ready for shipment, using noise excitation. Furthermore, this document establishes procedures for checking the strength of a package and its protective ability under vertical vibration excitation. The test described in this document can be carried out either as a stand-alone test to investigate the effect of vertical vibration loading or as part of a test program to determine the resistance of a package within a specific distribution system (transport chain) that includes a vibration hazard. NOTE In this International Standard, a package or loading unit is referred to as a test item.
