This standard specifies the terms and definitions, test requirements, test methods, determination of test results, and test reports for piston reliability testing of reciprocating internal combustion engines. This standard applies to pistons of reciprocating internal combustion engines (hereinafter referred to as internal combustion engines) used in road vehicles, ships, agricultural tractors and forestry machinery, engineering machinery, generator sets, and drainage and irrigation machinery. This standard does not apply to air-cooled internal combustion engines. Pistons of reciprocating internal combustion engines for other purposes may also be adopted with reference (if applicable).
