- This standard specifies the general reliability test methods for the complete vehicle engine on the bench, including load test specifications (such as alternating load, mixed load and full speed full load), thermal shock test specifications and reliability evaluation methods. This standard applies to water-cooled engines of passenger cars and commercial vehicles, but not to engines for motorcycles and tractors. This type of engine is of reciprocating type and rotor type, and does not contain free piston type. These include ignition engines and compression ignition engines; two-stroke and four-stroke engines; non-supercharged and supercharged (supercharged and turbocharged, water-to-air and air-to-air cooling); Engines fueled by diesel, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and alcohols. Reliability tests can be carried out in accordance with the methods specified in this standard for the finalization of new designs or major improvements of automobile engines, the certification of engines transferred to factories, and the quality inspection of engines currently in production. This standard can also be used as the technical basis for exchanges between engine manufacturers and automobile manufacturers.
