Scope

This standard specifies the test method for determining the contact fatigue strength of involute cylindrical gears to determine the basic data required for the contact load carrying capacity of the gears. This standard is applicable to the failure test of involute cylindrical gears made of steel and cast iron due to pitting damage on the tooth surface. The contact fatigue strength test of other metal gears can be used as a reference.
