This standard specifies the terms and text symbols for HVDC transmission. This standard applies to high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, especially for high-voltage direct current converter stations that use electronic converters to convert alternating current power into direct current power, or convert direct current power into alternating current power. The grid commutation converter of this kind of converter station adopts three-phase bridge double-shot commutation connection (Fig. 2), and uses one-way electronic valves, such as mercury arc valves, semiconductor valves, or a combination of the two flow element.
