Scope
This standard is based on good practice and provides guidance for the planning, establishment, implementation, operation, monitoring, review, maintenance and continuous improvement of a documented management system for a business continuity management system to enable the organization to prepare for, respond to, and and restore. The purpose of this standard is not to formulate a unified BCMS structure, but to design a BCMS for the organization that suits the organization's own needs and meets the requirements of its stakeholders. These requirements consist of legal, regulatory, organizational and industry requirements, products and services, adopted processes, operating environment, size and structure of the organization, and requirements of interested parties. This standard is general and applicable to all sizes and types of organizations, large, medium and small, engaged in industrial, commercial, public and not-for-profit, with a view to: a) establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving a BCMS; b) ensuring compliance with the organization's c) make a self-declaration of compliance with this standard; d) this standard should not be used to assess whether an organization's ability to meet its own business continuity requirements, or whether it meets its customers, legal or regulatory requirements. Organizations can use the requirements of ISO 22301 to demonstrate conformity to other organizations, or to have their BCMS certified by an accredited third-party certification body.
