Scope

This standard specifies the method for the determination of total nitrogen in water by digestion with alkaline potassium persulfate at 120-124°C and ultraviolet spectrophotometry. This standard applies to the determination of surface water and groundwater. This method can determine the sum of nitrogen in nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, inorganic ammonium salt, dissolved ammonia and most organic nitrogen-containing compounds in water.
