- Scope
- This standard specifies the sample selection and preparation, evaluation principles, measurement methods and test reports for the metallographic determination of delta ferrite content in martensitic stainless steel. This standard is applicable to the determination of the area percentage of delta ferrite in pressure-processed martensitic stainless steel using longitudinal specimens. After negotiation between the supplier and the buyer, transverse samples can also be used to determine the volume percentage of delta ferrite. The specific requirements are in Appendix C.
