Scope
This standard applies to portable and mobile pollution measuring instruments and monitors that directly measure or directly detect surface contamination caused by nuclides that emit photon radiation. It includes at least: - detection devices (counting tubes, scintillation detectors or semiconductor detectors etc.), they can be rigidly connected or connected by cables or form a separate device; -- measuring device. This standard applies to: - surface pollution photon measuring instrument; - surface pollution photon monitor. This standard applies to detection devices that measure pollution caused by nuclides that emit photons with energy exceeding 5 keV. This standard is used in particular to evaluate the performance of devices that demonstrate that the object is not contaminated by the surface of the emitting photon nuclides. This standard also applies to those instruments for special purposes and those specially designed to provide users with limited spectral information. The purpose of this standard is to specify the standard requirements and give some examples of applicable methods. It also specifies the general characteristics of photon pollution measuring instruments and monitors, general test conditions, radiation characteristics, electrical safety, environmental characteristics and certificate requirements.
