Scope: This standard specifies the method for the determination of D65 brightness of paper, board and pulp. This standard applies to white and near-white paper, cardboard and pulp, and also applies to paper, cardboard and pulp containing optical brighteners. When measuring samples containing fluorescent whitening agents, fluorescent reference standards should be used to adjust the ultraviolet radiation energy level of the instrument to be consistent with CIE standard illuminant D65. Since the fluorescence excited by the D65 light source used in this standard is about twice that of the C light source in ISO 2470-1:2009, this standard is more suitable for measuring the contribution of fluorescence to the improvement of brightness.
