Scope: This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, transportation and storage, and shelf life of bis(hydroxymethyl) imidazolidinyl urea, a preservative used in cosmetics. This standard applies to bis(hydroxymethyl) imidazolidinyl urea. Bis(hydroxymethyl)imidazolidinyl urea is formed from formaldehyde and allantoin by reaction under alkaline conditions, and is used as a preservative in cosmetics.
