Scope
This guiding technical document specifies the important material properties of polymer insulation materials for outdoor use, and lists the standard test methods with minimum requirements where applicable for the material. If there is no applicable standard test method, refer to the test method summarized in this guidance technical document. This guidance technical document applies to outdoor high-voltage polymer insulation materials with a system voltage higher than 1000V AC voltage, and also includes applications where the housing is an integral part of the equipment, such as in lightning arresters and cable terminals. The scope of this guidance technical document is limited to these materials. The performance of an insulator depends on several factors, such as the type of material, design, environmental conditions, etc. Therefore, when selecting materials, it is necessary to meet the following requirements, but this does not guarantee that the performance of the material is up to standard when used for outdoor insulation.
