Scope
This standard specifies the evaluation method for the on-site sound attenuation performance of indoor or outdoor movable barriers. This standard is the engineering and method of insertion loss measurement. The measurement can be carried out by both actual sound source and artificial sound source. The sound attenuation performance of a movable sound barrier calculated according to this standard is related to the following factors: - sound diffraction around the edge of the barrier; - sound transmission of the barrier components; - sound absorption of the shielding panels and the surrounding environment; - If indoors, the room in which the shielding is located; when a barrier is used to protect a designated work location, the sound attenuation value at the site is used to describe the effectiveness of the shielding. However, when shielding is used to guard an entire area, its performance will vary with the measurement location. Therefore, it is recommended to give maximum and minimum values for sound attenuation. The sound attenuation performance is measured by insertion loss. When evaluating the performance of an indoor barrier, the geometry of the room as well as reflections from walls, ceilings and room fixtures will affect its performance. Therefore, barrier performance comparisons can only be made when the test conditions are the same. This standard applies to shields with a height and length greater than 1.5m, but measurements may also be made for smaller shields, provided that the parties concerned agree. Because environmental conditions can affect outdoor measurements, it is recommended that measurements be limited to a distance of 25m from the shield. However, measurements may also be used for greater distances if agreed by the parties concerned. The results of field tests will vary. Therefore, different shielding properties can only be compared on the basis of data obtained with the same measurement method. This standard applies only to the complete shield and not to its individual parts. The sound insulation and sound absorption of shielding components (such as panels, doors, windows) shall be measured in accordance with other relevant standards. This standard does not apply to shielding in open offices and outdoor acoustic shielding for dealing with community noise. The same does not apply to product certification.
