WARNING: This standard does not address all possible safety issues. Producers must explain to users the dangers of the product, as well as safety and protective measures during use. Users of this standard are responsible for taking appropriate safety and health measures and ensuring compliance with the conditions stipulated in relevant national regulations. Scope: This standard specifies a gas chromatographic method for the determination of the purity and impurities of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) for industrial use. This standard is applicable to the determination of the purity of MTBE and also to the determination of impurities in MTBE, such as C to C hydrocarbons, methanol, isopropanol, tert-butanol and sec-butanol, methyl sec-butyl ether and methyl tert-amyl Ether, acetone and methyl ethyl ketone. Using the polymethylsiloxane column analysis method, the minimum detection concentration of impurities is 0.02% (mass fraction); using the 624 column and heart-cut analysis method, the minimum detection concentration of impurities is 0.002% (mass fraction).
