This document specifies the design requirements necessary to ensure the structural integrity of wind turbines. Its purpose is to provide an appropriate level of protection during the expected life of the wind turbine to prevent damage to the wind turbine from various hazards. This document deals with the various subsystems of the wind turbine, such as control and protection functions, internal electrical systems, mechanical systems and support structures. This document applies to wind turbines of all capacities. For small wind turbines, please refer to IEC61400 2.
