Scope: This standard specifies the test methods for determining the tensile strength and tensile failure mode of polyethylene (PE) hot-melt butt joint components. This method is applicable to hot-melt butt joints between polyethylene (PE) pipes and pipes or pipes and pipe fittings with a nominal outer diameter of not less than 90 mm. This method can be used in combination with other test methods to determine the quality of butt fusion welded joints.
