Scope
1.1.1 Equipment to which this Part applies This Part of GB 4943 applies to information technology equipment powered by mains power or batteries, with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V, including electrical service equipment and related equipment. This standard also applies to the following technical equipment: - designed to be used as communication terminal equipment and communication network infrastructure equipment, regardless of the way of power supply: - designed and intended to be directly connected to or used as infrastructure equipment in cable distribution systems, The way of power supply is not considered; - the design uses the AC mains power supply as the information transmission medium (see Note 4 of Chapter 6 and Note 4 of 7.1). This section also applies to components and assemblies intended to be installed inside information technology equipment. These components or assemblies are not required to comply with all requirements of this standard if the complete information technology equipment in which they are installed complies with the requirements of this standard. This section specifies a series of requirements to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to operators and laymen who may come into contact with the equipment. When specified, this also includes maintenance personnel. This section aims to reduce: the installed equipment in accordance with the method specified by the manufacturer during installation, operation and maintenance hazards. The installed equipment can be a system composed of several equipment units interconnected, or a system composed of several independent equipment. Examples of equipment within the scope of this section are as follows: omitted. The equipment listed here does not include all equipment, so equipment not listed is not necessarily outside the scope of this section. Equipment that meets the relevant requirements of this part can be considered to be used in conjunction with process control equipment, automatic test equipment and similar systems that require information processing. However, this standard does not include requirements for performance or functional characteristics of equipment. 1.1.2 Additional requirements Additional requirements may be required in addition to the safety requirements specified in this standard for the following equipment: — intended to be exposed to special environmental conditions (for example, extremely high or low temperature, excessive dust, moisture or vibration, flammable gas, corrosive or explosive environment, etc.); - medical electronic equipment directly connected to the patient's body; - equipment intended to be used on vehicles, ships or aircraft, used at altitudes above 5 000 m Equipment; - equipment intended to be used in places where water may enter, see Appendix T for the requirements for these equipment and the application guidelines for relevant tests. NOTE – It should be noted that some national authorities require additional requirements. 1.1.3 Equipment not applicable This standard does not apply to: - power supply systems that are not integral to the equipment, such as motor generator sets, battery backup systems and transformers; - building installation wiring; - do not require a power supply installation.
