This guideline provides information on the design, construction and operation of thermal waste gas cleaning systems. Cleaning technologies covered include systems with a virtually adiabatic reaction zone (e.g. ceramically-lined combustion chambers) and systems with a non-adiabatic reaction zone (e.g. flares, steam boilers). The operating conditions, example systems and system design data presented in this guideline cannot be directly transferred to solid and liquid waste treatment systems. Because of the numerous system- and gas stream-specific factors and their mutual interdependencies, the operating results shown in the illustrations and tables are specific to the respective application and should therefore be seen as examples. The operating data indicated have been determined on systems reflecting the current state of the art.
