Scope
The purpose of this standard is to provide a standard for two-way communication of inspection data between computer systems and inspection equipment. The Dimensional Measurement Interface Standard (DMIS) is a vocabulary of terms that establishes a neutral format for inspection procedure and inspection result data. When the communication between automation equipment was originally designed, DMIS was designed to be both human readable and human writeable, allowing inspection program writing and inspection result analysis without computer assistance. With the enhancement of high-level language extensions, DMIS can function and be realized as a DME language.
