Scope

This standard specifies the instrumented nano-indentation test method for testing the indentation hardness and elastic modulus of films. This standard applies to thin films attached to solid surfaces. The indentation direction is perpendicular to the surface of the sample, and the indentation depth range is usually on the order of nanometers, and can also be extended to several microns.
