Scope: This standard gives guidelines for abrasion testing of vulcanized or thermoplastic rubber, both dense and loose friction materials. This standard is suitable for evaluating materials and assessing the suitability of their products in terms of wear. This standard takes into account factors affecting the correlation between laboratory wear tests and the actual performance of the product, but is not suitable for use in wear tests developed for specific rubber products, such as tire trailer tests.
