Scope: This standard specifies the general requirements, terms and definitions for the characteristics of simple GPS measuring equipment (such as micrometers, indicators, calipers, plates, height gauges, gauge blocks), and these provisions can also be used for more complex GPS measuring equipment. This standard is the basis for formulating measurement equipment standards and describing the design characteristics and metrological characteristics of measurement equipment. It is also a guide for the development and content of GPS measurement equipment standards. The purpose of this standard is to make the communication between manufacturers/suppliers and customers/users easier, and to propose more appropriate technical requirements for GPS measuring equipment. This standard is intended to be a tool used by companies to specify the measurement process and select the relevant characteristics of the measurement equipment in the quality assurance of the measurement process (such as measurement equipment calibration and workpiece measurement). This standard also includes common terms related to the characteristics of specific measuring equipment.
