1.1 This part of GB/T 12006 specifies the determination method for the moisture content of polyamide pellets and finished products. These methods are not applicable to the determination of plastic water absorption (kinetic equilibrium) according to GB/T 1034-2008. This method is suitable for low water content in polyamide: - method A 0.1% or more; - method B 0.01 %or above. 1.2 This part specifies two test methods a) Method A is anhydrous methanol extraction method. This method uses anhydrous methanol to extract the water in the sample, and then uses Karl Fischer titration to determine the collected water. This method is applicable to all polyamide pellets with a maximum size of 4 mm x 4 mm x 3 mm; b) Method B is a pressure measurement method. This method calculates the water content by measuring the pressure increase caused by the evaporation of water under vacuum. This method is not suitable for polyamide samples containing volatiles other than water, which can generate large air pressures at room temperature. Materials that are present in significant quantities of volatile substances should be regularly tested, eg by gas chromatography. This is true for new types or grades of material.
