- Scope
- This standard applies to: Hollow porcelain and glass insulators for general use in electrical equipment; Hollow porcelain insulators for long-term gas pressure in switch and control equipment. These insulators are used for indoor and outdoor electrical equipment with AC rated voltage not lower than 1000V, frequency not higher than 100Hz or DC rated voltage not lower than 1500V. Examples of electrical equipment suitable for hollow insulators are as follows: circuit breakers; disconnectors; load switches; earthing switches; transformers; lightning arresters; bushings; cable terminals; This standard does not specify the electrical type test, because the insulator is only a part of the electrical equipment, and the withstand voltage is not the characteristic of the hollow insulator itself, but the characteristic of the equipment.
