Scope
This standard specifies the performance specifications and tolerance limits of vibration measuring instruments used to evaluate the human body's response to vibration. It includes requirements for type evaluation, periodic verification and on-site inspection, and specifications for vibration calibrators used for on-site inspection. The vibration measuring instrument specified in this standard can be a single instrument, a combination of instruments or a computer-based acquisition and analysis system. The vibration measuring instruments specified in this standard can be applied to the vibration measurement for one or more of the following purposes: Hand-transmitted vibration; Whole-body vibration; Low-frequency whole-body vibration in the frequency range of 0.1Hz-0.5Hz. Vibration measurement instruments can be designed according to one or more frequency weightings defined in each application. Three levels of performance tests are defined in this standard: Type evaluation, the full performance test of the instrument according to the specifications specified in this standard; Periodic verification, a group of intermediate tests to ensure that the performance specifications of the instrument are within the required range Tests; On-site inspections, the minimum level of tests required to demonstrate that the instrument operates within the required performance specifications.
