This chapter of GB 4706.1-1998 is replaced by the following content. The safety requirements involved in this part of GB 4706 apply to household and similar liquid heaters with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V. Note 1: Some appliances can also heat food. Note 2: This standard applies to the following appliances: - electric kettles and other water boilers that produce boiling water with a rated capacity not exceeding 1 L; - coffee pots; - egg cookers; - milk heaters; - feeding bottles heaters; - pressure cookers with a rated cooking pressure not exceeding 140 kPa and a rated capacity not exceeding 10 L; - cooking pans; - saucepans; - yoghurt makers; - steamers; Appliances not intended for general household use but which nonetheless constitute a source of danger to the public, e.g. appliances intended for use in shops, in light industry and on farms by non-electrical professionals, are within the scope of this standard. Note 3: This type of appliance includes: - livestock feed cooker; - sterilizer; - glue pot with water jacket. As a practical matter, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the dwelling. This standard generally does not consider: - the use of appliances by unattended young children and disabled persons; - the situation of young children playing with appliances. Note 4: Attention to the following: - for appliances intended to be used on vehicles, ships or aircraft, some additional requirements may be required; - for appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, some special requirements may be required; - in many Nationally, additional requirements are set by the national health care department, the department responsible for labor protection, the national water supply department and similar authorities. Note 5: This part does not apply to: - Frying pans and deep fat fryers (IEC 60335-2-13); - Storage-type electric water heaters (IEC 60335-2-21); - Instant-heating electric water heaters (IEC 60335-2-35); - surface cleaners using liquid or steam (IEC 60335-2-54); - commercial water boilers and liquid heaters (IEC 60335-2-63); - portable immersion type heater (IEC 60335-2-74);
