Scope

This standard specifies the basic technical requirements for steel pipe flanges (PN series), including nominal size, nominal pressure, material, pressure-temperature rating, flange type and size, sealing surface, tolerances and markings. This standard applies to steel pipe flanges and flange covers with nominal pressures PN2.5~PN160. The nominal pressure grade of the flange is represented by PN, including the following nine grades: PN2.5, PN6, PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160. The outer diameters of steel pipes applicable to this standard include two series, A and B. Series A is the internationally used series (commonly known as British pipes), and series B is the domestically used series (commonly known as metric pipes). Its nominal size DN and steel pipe outer diameter are as specified in Table 1.0.3. Flanges using B series steel pipes should be marked with "B" after the numerical value of the nominal size DN to indicate the difference. However, flanges using A series steel pipes do not need to be marked with “A” after the numerical value of the nominal size DN. For details, see Chapter 13 and Chapter 14 of this standard. This standard also applies to valves, pumps, chemical machinery, pipeline accessories and equipment parts that use flanges as connection types. This standard does not cover material selection principles for special fluid conditions.
