This standard specifies the method for quantitative analysis of the chemical composition of metals and alloys using electronic probes. This standard is applicable to the analysis of the composition of metal and alloy samples at the cubic micron scale, and the range of analyzed elements is 11Na to 92U. This standard is also applicable to the quantitative analysis of metals and alloys using a scanning electron microscope equipped with a spectrometer.
