Scope: This standard specifies the safety requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, use and maintenance of belt conveyors used in coal mines. This standard applies to belt conveyors used in underground coal mines, and also to belt conveyors used in open-pit coal mines, coal preparation and other workplaces with explosive hazards. It does not apply to wire rope traction belt conveyors.
