- Scope
- This standard specifies a method for the determination of the roughness of paper and board using the Bendtsen method and the printed surface method. The Bendtsen method is suitable for paper and paperboard with a Bendtsen roughness value of about 50mL/min~1200mL/min. It is not suitable for soft papers where the end face of the probe will produce obvious indentations in the paper surface, nor for highly air-permeable papers where air will penetrate the paper, or papers that do not lay flat under heavy metal rings. The printed surface method is suitable for all printed papers and cardboards that form a good seal with the protective ring surface of the probe.
