Scope: This standard specifies the geometric conditions for measuring ISO diffuse transmission density and f/4.5, f/1.6 projected transmission density. Diffuse transmission density is mainly used for the measurement of images viewed on transparent illuminators (boxes), contact printed images, and images projected with diffuse illumination systems. Projection density is mainly used in image measurement with a condenser. Although the density measurement method specified in this standard is mainly used for image measurement, it is also often applied to the measurement of optical filters and other transparent materials.
