This section applies to all stationary and mobile machinery with fixed access facilities. This section applies to working platforms and channels as machine parts. This standard may also apply to access to working platforms and passages installed in buildings as part of the building, provided that the main function of this part of the building is to provide fixed means of access to machinery. This section also applies to work platforms and walkways that are not permanently affixed to a particular machine and that may be removed or moved aside for certain operations of the machine (e.g. changing tooling on a large press). This standard does not apply to lifts, movable lifting platforms or other devices specially designed for lifting people between two levels. For the major hazards contained in this part, see Chapter 4 in GB 17888.1-2008.
