- Scope
- This standard specifies two methods for the preparation of fatty acid methyl esters, the boron trifluoride method and the potassium hydroxide-hydrogen chloride method, and the method for the quantitative analysis of fatty acids in fats by gas chromatography equipped with a capillary column and a flame ionization detector. This standard applies to the determination of fatty acids in animal and vegetable fats, oils and mixed fatty acids formulated for animal feed, and fat extracts from compound feeds (including fats and fatty acid mixtures containing butyric acid). This standard does not apply to polymerized fatty acids.
