This standard specifies a general method for contact pulse reflection ultrasonic surface wave testing to detect surface defects. This standard is suitable for detecting workpieces with surface roughness less than R3.2μm and thickness greater than 10mm. When cylindrical workpieces are circumferentially inspected, the curvature radius of the workpiece should be greater than 80mm. Appendix B gives an application example of working radiation ultrasonic surface wave detection of hot continuous rolling high-speed steel.
