Scope: This standard specifies the classification and composition, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules and signs, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage of penetrometers in geotechnical testing instruments. This standard applies to standard penetrometers for measuring penetration impedance. This standard also applies to pocket penetrometers and weighted penetrometers for estimating the bearing capacity of soils.
