The penetrant testing method specified in this standard is suitable for detecting discontinuities in surface openings of the material being inspected, such as cracks, duplication, folds, pores and lack of fusion. Mainly used for metal materials. However, other materials can also be used, as long as these materials are not porous and inert relative to the detection medium. Examples of inspected materials include castings, forgings, welds, ceramics, etc. The term "discontinuity" is used here to include all meanings of acceptable or unacceptable that have not yet been evaluated. JB/T 7523, GB/T 18851.2 and GB/T 18851.3 specify the measurement and monitoring methods for the practical performance of penetrant testing products. The basic rules that should be followed when applying non-destructive testing specified in GB/T 5616 apply to this standard.
