This standard specifies the terminology, classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules and product marking, packaging and storage of pulse counters for electric energy meters (hereinafter referred to as counters). This standard applies to single-row and (separately driven) multi-row wheel counters driven by single-phase permanent magnet stepper motors and snap-in relays used in static electric energy meters and hybrid multi-rate electric energy meters. This standard does not apply to counters used in induction energy meters. This standard does not apply to electronic digital display counters. This standard does not apply to other types of stepper motor counters.
