Scope: This standard specifies the test method for the determination of adhesion by the pull-off adhesion test on single-coat or multi-coat systems of paints, varnishes or related products. This standard is valid for comparing the adhesion of different coatings. It is more useful to provide a relative rating for a series of painted panels with appreciable differences in adhesion. This standard applies to a variety of substrates, and different types of substrates use different steps. Deformable substrates such as thin metals, plastics and wood; rigid substrates such as thick concrete slabs and metal panels. For specific occasions, the coating can be prepared directly on the surface of the test column.
