Scope
This standard specifies a method for the determination of the flash point of paints, varnishes, paint bases, solvents, petroleum or related products. This standard is not suitable for the determination of water-based coatings. The method of ISO 3679 can be used for the determination of water-based coatings. The applicable temperature range of this standard varies depending on the instrument used, from -30°C to 110°C (see Table 1). Attention should be paid to the results measured with mixed solvents containing halogenated hydrocarbons, as these mixed solvents may give irregular results.
