- This standard specifies the cutting tools, test blanks, equipment, testing instruments, cutting conditions, life criteria and test result evaluation involved in tap life testing. This standard is applicable to the life test of high-speed steel machine taps and high-carbon steel or alloy tool steel hand taps. It can also be used as a reference for laboratory performance tests and comparative tests. This standard does not apply to the life test of coated taps.
